Greetings and blessings in the wonderful name of Jesus!
What an awesome summer we are having in Jesus! In spite of the heat, vacations, and holidays, we are still seeing a hunger for God, His Word and His Righteousness. It is always such a blessing to see people who are faithful to the house of God, those who come to be a blessing as well as those who come to receive a blessing. In fact, the best way to receive a blessing IS to BE a blessing! It is imperative in these last days to live as Paul instructs us in Romans 6:11 "In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus." As Christians, we must be alive to God. Alert, listening, obeying His Word and His instructions because as verse 18 says, "You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness."
What is righteousness? Right standing with God that we gained when we were born again. So, since we have become slaves to righteousness, it should be our desire to please our Master, Jesus Christ. He has given us everything we need for life and Godliness in His Word, isn't that wonderful?!
The benefits are great! "But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life." As we yield ourselves to the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, the result is holiness. Holiness is doing those things that please the Lord. It is an attitude of the heart that leads to right living and eternal life. In this evil and adulterous generation guard your hearts, keep a watch over your mouths, "be made new in the attitude of your minds; and... put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness." Ephesians 4:23-24 "And this is [our] prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God." Philippians 1:9-11
